Today, the "clean mountain" campaign took place on Elbrus. The local entrepreneurs' company "Elbrus Track" together with the ecological project "Puremountains/clean mountains" (puremountains.org) regularly and actively participate in the event, supplying volunteers with additional durable bags, providing transport for bringing oversized and heavy garbage down the mountain, and collecting garbage in very hard-to-reach, but at the same time visible places.
The problem of garbage in the mountains is especially acute in places where a large number of people who have come to the mountains for the first time vacation. Most of the things we are accustomed to in everyday life are completely unnecessary in the mountains, and failure to understand this leads to a large accumulation of garbage not only in the mountains themselves, but also in nearby villages. The only way out of this situation is to take only the most necessary things with you on vacation to the mountains, refuse, for example, bottled water (because the water in the mountains is very clean), do not bring food in plastic packaging (especially double), do not use wet wipes (they take a very long time to decompose).
Remember: removing trash is a very good thing, but it is much more important to avoid it! Do not take with you into nature or to the mountains anything that may become unnecessary while you are there, for example, leave food packaging at home and use reusable containers to carry it.
