This summer, at the end of June-beginning of July, my dad, friends from our team "Adventure Club" and I visited Elbrus. Since early childhood, I love nature and often travel with my friends and family. I am deeply involved in ornithology and during our routes I observed the avifauna in the Elbrus region. During the 10-day trip, I managed to see 16 species of birds, 10 of which were new to me.
The main goal of our trip was to climb Elbrus. There were five adults and two teenagers in our team, besides me, there was also Petr, he is also 14 years old. From the very arrival, under the guidance of our guide, we prepared for the ascent: we walked along various eco-trails, acclimatized, learned to use ice axes, and also learned how to put on and walk on crampons correctly. For acclimatization, we lived for several days in a very cozy and well-thought-out eco-hut at an altitude of 3,700 m.
The ascent of Elbrus itself, although difficult, was very interesting and not at all scary. We were accompanied by an experienced guide and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, ready to come to the rescue at any time. I would also like to note and thank the guide Liza Pal, who was with our team all this time, taught us the correct behavior in a fragile mountain ecosystem, how to use mountaineering equipment, and told us that in the mountains every little thing is important. I learned a lot of useful and interesting things, for example, how many layers of clothing are needed to stay warm on Elbrus, how to hold an ice axe correctly.
In conclusion, I would like to say that climbing Elbrus with my family and friends has become one of my main achievements and I will definitely remember it for the rest of my life.
