At the request of the creator of the new marked eco-trails system in Elbrus, my friend Alexey Mitrofanov (passed away on March 19, 2024, may he rest in peace...), I helped with the translation of texts on information boards and signs into English for our foreign guests.
Orientation in the mountains is a very important skill to avoid getting lost and getting into trouble.
Markings on eco-trails help novice tourists who are not familiar with the area and do not have much experience in traveling in the mountains to get to their destination and back without getting lost.
There are not only signs on the eco-trails, but also information boards with information about the geology, fauna and flora of the region. An attentive tourist can easily see wild animals, rare plants and geological formations, such as volcanic basalt columns.
The new eco-trails lead you from Azau to the village of Tegenekli, from Polyana Cheget to Lake Donguzorun, from the Stary Krugozor station to Lake Elbrusskoye, from the village of Terskol to the Devichyi Kosy waterfall.
